Related guidance
Based upon the BIM Academic Forum’s ‘Learning Outcomes Framework’ (2012), this completely refreshed schedule, updated for the BS EN ISO 19650 series, is the result of collaboration between academics, UK built environment education professionals and the IMI Framework.
These Learning Outcomes are aligned with buildingSMART UK Chapter’s Professional Certification (PCERT) 1 to be published soon.
Government Soft Landings (GSL) plays an important role in
enabling a smooth transition from construction to operation. It
also helps clients to assure the performance of an asset and
inform future project performance setting.
The National Health Service Scotland (NHSS) GSL process map
provides a framework and reference for other organisations to
create their own specific plan which responds to their unique
business procedures and the GSL principles.
This interactive process is aligned to the principles of BS 8536
and whilst not fully harmonized with BS EN ISO 19650-2 it
provides a good reference point to support others in developing
GSL workflows.

In this paper, Casey Rutland and Fiona Moore explain the shift in focus and subtle language changes in how we describe ‘why’ people involved in delivering and managing assets in the built and natural environment should implement BIM.
At the heart of the IMI Framework is a very simple premise – that we need to improve how we use information to support better decision making across the whole life of the built and natural environment. Fundamentally, this requires us to know how to identify, develop and use purpose-driven data to support better outcomes for the environment, the economy and society at large. Dr Anne Kemp OBE shares her thoughts in the article below.

The European BIM Handbook
The European BIM handbook provides a central reference point for the introduction of BIM by the European public sector. The handbook aims to equip Government and public sector construction clients with the necessary knowledge to provide leadership to its industrial supply chain. It was produced by the EU BIM Task Group, comprised of public sector clients, infrastructure owners and policy makers from over 20 countries across Europe.
